Hello everyone,
Thank you all so much for embarking on the Torah Club journey with Erika and me! We have high hopes for this year.
After the last few weeks, I feel strongly that implementing the following guidelines will ensure our study and discussions remain healthy and increase in fruitfulness.
Besides the below notes, I'm including a video link covering the guidelines for convenience.
May our Father grow us and bless us for His sake,
Pastor Garrett
As you study the material each week, I want all of us to narrow our focus to two primary goals:
Write down your thoughts on the GROUP DISCUSSION question for each of the seven Focus Sections
In each Focus Section, identify and write down one principle that, when implemented in your life, will increase your effectiveness as a disciple of Yeshua
You probably won't accomplish the above two bullets for every Focus Section in a week and that is not a problem. But I'm asking that these be our primary goals while we learn during the week.
The following is a general skeleton for the structure of our Torah Club discussions moving forward:
Each week's discussion will begin with watching the Portion Connection video
We'll allow around 5-10 minutes for response to the Portion Connection video
We'll use the remainder of our discussion time to focus on the GROUP DISCUSSION questions from that week's lesson
We won't make it through every GROUP DISCUSSION question. Which GROUP DISCUSSION questions we cover will be up to the facilitator's discretion that week (this is usually me but others will serve as a facilitator every few lessons).
Pertinence: Our discussions will remain, as much as possible, laser-focused on the weekly material and what principles we can glean and apply in our discipleship to Yeshua
Edification: Questions, responses, thoughts and comments should "recognize the good", build up the group, and strengthen other students in their walk with Yeshua
Avoid critical comments (e.g. church, rabbi, or ministry bashing)
Avoid as much as possible speaking about anyone not in the room with us
Between the weekly workbook and the Portion Connection video, we cover quite a bit of material. Do not dismay:
You will not absorb all of the material from week to week
We will never discuss all the weekly material during our meeting times
That being the case, we should train ourselves to glean the most important principles from the lessons and share these during our discussions.
Undoubtedly, there will be other topics from the weekly material that we desperately want to cover. The after-service table fellowship is an excellent forum for discussing with others what wasn't covered during our meeting.
Hello everyone,
Below is the information you'll need to get signed up for our next Torah Club cycle that begins in mid-October. If you have any questions or concerns, please call or email us.
