Hello everyone,
Sunday, August 3rd, coincides with the 9th of Av on the Jewish calendar. The 9th of Av, known in Hebrew as Tisha B'Av, is the "fast of the fifth month" in Zechariah 7-8. The 9th of Av is a day of national calamity for the Jewish people: it is remembered as the day that Israel believed the report of the Ten Spies, the day on which both Temples were destroyed, and the day on which terrible injustices have befallen the Jewish people ever since.
The 9th of Av is traditionally commemorated by Judaism with a 25-hour total fast and with prayers of mourning called kinnot.
Please make plans to join us Sunday, August 3rd, 3-4 p.m. as we "mourn with those who mourn" by lifting up prayers for Israel and the nations and begging Heaven to send the Redemption soon.
There will not be a meal after the service.
Maranatha,
Pastor Garrett

Sunday, July 13th, is the 17th of Tammuz on the Jewish calendar. This is the "fast of the fourth month" mentioned in Zechariah 7-8. Judaism observes this day as a fast from dawn to nightfall. I encourage our community to learn more about the significance of this season and how it relates to our faith in Yeshua. I've curated some links below.

Exhibiting hospitality is immensely important and is even considered an imperative for disciples of Yeshua. What are some ways that we could practically incorporate hospitality into our lifestyles?
I encourage you to look to our community for starters! A simple place to start could be watching for brothers or sisters who need encouragement and inviting them over for coffee and fellowship.
Remember Abraham and Sarah, our ancestors by faith, who exhibited extraordinary hospitality and "entertained angels unawares" (Hebrews 13:2).

Per requests from the community, I am preparing a report for everyone to provide an overview of JMF's current financial standing. The report should be available by the end of next week. Going forward, this report will be produced on a six-month basis in January and July.

With Heaven's help, I am planning to lead a study on the book of Malachi for the last three Shabbats in June. I'm letting everyone know in advance in case you want to read ahead. Please pray for me and all of us that we will be changed for the better by interacting with the book of Malachi.
Beginning June 9th, JMF Lunch and Learns will be hosted virtually each weekday from 12:30-01:00 p.m. ET. We will be learning from Pirkei Avot, a foundational text on Jewish ethics, and we will compare what we learn with the teachings of our Master. You can find the link to the video call on our Resources page.

Our study through Song of Songs relied on an English translation of a rabbinic source called Targum Song of Songs. For anyone who would like to review this source in greater detail, find the link below!
Many have expressed interest in learning more about the book of Revelation from a Messianic Jewish perspective. Daniel Lancaster, education director for FFOZ and author of our Torah Club curriculum, leads Beth Immanuel in Hudson, Wisconsin. They produced a multi-part audio series on Revelation that is available for free on their website.
I stumbled on an excellent graphic provided by Herzog College in Israel. The graphic shows a historical timeline for the books of the Tanakh. I encourage everyone to download and print this graphic and even keep it in your Bibles for reference. It will especially come in handy as we learn more about the book of Malachi.
Sunday, June 1st, 9:30 p.m., JMF will host a virtual Torah study in honor of Shavuot. See the Resources page for the meeting link. Please send us a note if you're interested in joining.
